About Frugal Home Gym

I'm an electrical engineer living in Louisville, Kentucky, and I'm the kind of person who has probably taken on way too many hobbies.

I've also always been a bit of a tinkerer.

I like taking things apart to see how they work. I like figuring out how to fix things instead of replacing them. I like finding an unconventional solution when the obvious one is too expensive or just doesn't make sense. And yes, sometimes that means spending several hours researching something that probably didn't need several hours of research.

I'm also naturally frugal.

Growing up, I wanted nice things just like everyone else, but I rarely wanted to pay full price for them. I'd hunt for clothes on eBay, look for deals, buy things used, and eventually started flipping and reselling items myself.

Having so many different hobbies actually made that habit pretty useful. Over the years, I've learned a lot about figuring out what things are worth, spotting a good deal, and knowing when something is cheap for a reason.

That's probably why I enjoy home gyms so much.

I like lifting, but I also love designing spaces. My first home gym was only about 100 square feet, so I had to think carefully about what deserved to take up that limited space. That combination of fitness, problem-solving, equipment, and designing a space is what really hooked me.

But more than anything, I just like figuring things out.

Whether that's finding an incredible deal, buying something used instead of new, modifying something to make it work better, 3D printing a solution, or discovering an obscure piece of equipment that nobody else seems to know about, that's the stuff I enjoy.

I'm just a curious person who likes learning, experimenting, and sharing what I find along the way.

And if there's a way to do something smarter, better, or for less money, I'm probably going to try to find it.
